Road Movie

Let’s fuel up and check the tires
Put your cap on and your coat
We’re gonna drive to a faraway country
Where the women drink and the men all smoke

Come on and sing these cheesy love songs
We tell riddles and name our car
Then we’ll stop at a highway café
Then hit the road again to follow our star

Rain, fall on me…

You will put your head on my shoulder
I will smell your sweet perfume
We will cross the pass at midnight
And reach the coast at the end of noon

The engine finds the last drops of fuel
The last sun sets in the sea
Our lips lock our love in
Was, is, and will always be
Our story ends at the sea
Our story ends at the sea

Rain, fall on me…

Northern Skies

The northern winds have blown me here
I’ve found a job and a love so dear
I’m blessed
I know these streets where our kids have played
We have got it made in the shade
I guess

But in my dreams
I climb the hill to watch the snow geese fly
In my dreams
I sit at the docks and watch the ships go by

Familiar faces from my childhood days
Occupy my mind nowadays
At night
Now that winter is commencing
The snowflakes are arriving
White
In northern skies

In my dreams
I climb the hill and watch the snow geese fly
In my dreams
I leave this city for a time long by

In my dreams
I leave the city for a time long by
In my dreams
I walk the roads under northern skies

If Not for You

I am driven through this town I think I know
I am running on empty and could use a coffee too
These streets are as dark as a dungeon
And the radio plays this song called “If Not for You”

Now I know they say the devil is in the detail
But I know the devil is just everywhere
He lurks around every corner
Watches my every move and stares, stares, stares

I can still feel your fingers tickle my neck
While I tried to keep my eyes on the road
And then when you moved so near and softly bit my ear
I could feel that something down there was about to explode

See how it flows, circles in time
Everything that is gone will return
Further on down the line

Strange, but I just can’t remember how we met
But I do remember I knew it would last a while
Till death do us part, we solemnly promised
And after that I will come back to haunt you, you said with a smile

I was driven through this town I just said I thought I knew
Having this strange mixed feeling of excitement and fear
And then the phone rang and the message came
About how you fell off that cliff and then strangely disappeared

You always said that life was fair
And that you always get something back for something you give
I just couldn’t stop thinking about what you had done wrong then
And thoughts like these, man, they just scare you stiff

See how it flows, circles in time
Everything that is gone will return
Further on down the line

When I got myself back together I went to this concert
Of a guy called Alias, Alias who? Alias whatever you like
You could feel in the air that he was fighting something
But whatever it was stayed hidden in the night

It was just about the time
That he had learned to sing in slow motion
He could walk around the words
Chew on them and then spit them out
Halfway through the second set
His image began to fade
Until the only thing coming from the stage
Was sound

And I thought I saw you dancing there
And I thought that God had had mercy on us all
I kept wondering though when and how you did come back
And why you hadn’t even bothered to give me a call

See how it flows, circles in time
Everything that is gone will return
Further on down the line

Now I am driven through this town I think I know
I am running on empty and could use a coffee too
Suddenly this familiar voice is coming from the back seat
Singing to the radio this song called “If Not for You”

Meet Me by the Sea

They say we are just bone machines, baby
And somehow we got stuck in this place
Some blame the human condition
Others say it’s just grace

But the only thing that’s guaranteed
We’ll have to follow the river to the sea

You may take the fast lane, friend
And I may stay right here
You can use your own two hands
While I get thrown out on my ear

Anyway, the result will just be
We follow the river to the sea

So let’s say goodbye, my friends
May light be on your way
May your lives be filled with love
May you know the truth always

And please know where you can find me
I’ll follow the river and hope to meet you by the sea
